The Calligraphic Arts Guild of Toronto (CAGT) is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing opportunities for the continuing study of calligraphy, its history, cultural traditions, and applications for all ages. From enthusiastic beginner to professional scribe, we extend our passion for hand lettering through shared knowledge, instruction, exhibitions and community arts events.
As the Guild marks a 45 year milestone, a range of traditional western scripts are studied: Roman Capitals, Uncial, Carolingian, Gothic, Italic, Foundational, Copperplate and Spencerian along with many contemporary forms. Art forms supporting our skill sets including painting, illumination, flourishing, illustration, book making, printmaking and paper arts are also explored. Check out our current courses! Learn
