Description
Course Description:
This an opportunity to explore printing techniques with Liz Menard on an intaglio press using water wash up inks and Japanese paper to create the pages for an accordion book form. The Accordion (concertina) is a versatile and elegant book structure useful if you desire a flat book or one that can be opened at its entirety.
Printmaking techniques (monoprinting, drypoint, or relief) are accessible, expressive and ideal for communicating ideas. The first day and a half will be spent in playful experimentation creating and printing the pages for your book (size under 8” / 200cm). The final afternoon is dedicated to assembling your accordion! Instructions for a simple folded book cover will be provided and demonstrated.
